Got a 2010 Prius today

Today we got our new 2010 Toyota Prius. Got it via the Cash-for-Clunkers deal, so Jen had to turn in her 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. According to the EPA numbers, we're going from a combined fuel efficiency of 15 MPG to 50 MPG, an increase of 333%! That's pretty good! (what's the real millage going to be?)

But I think we'll miss the Jeep for those few days of the year when our streets are plowed in and we come home at the end of the day needing to ram into a spot or the yard.

And all those off-road 4x4 adventures. OK, there were none of those, but the Jeep was good for getting those spots, and it certainly could carry lots of stuff.

So, while I don't think the Clunkers program was the best deal for America, it was a pretty good deal for us-- $4500 straight off the PRE-tax price of the car (so the discount was more like $4800). That's a big difference. And I feel like we're doing the "right thing" by stepping up to a Hybrid (and also going from "class 1 truck" admissions to the more strict "passenger vehicle" admission).

So, so long Jeep and thank you... Hello Prius and thank you.
