The Catch (or: why rowing is like eating spicy food)

Just finished a ~7mi row in a Peinart A-boat single (make in MA). Nice. I don't usually row in the Thursday 7:15am slot at CRI-- it was really chaotic on the dock, but once on the water, all the sculling classes turned upstream, so downstream I went-- for long stretches of river, it was just me. I'm trying to get better at keeping the blades off the water on the recovery, and have a nice, solid catch.

The catch-22 of the row was since it was so hot, moving created a small cooling breeze, but when I stopped... hot! So I had to row more :) Kinda like eating wicked-suppa-spicy food: eat more and you're OK, but watch out when you stop!
