Baby and bruchetta, August Style!

It's August 9th. Four weeks ago today, we welcomed Jasper Thomas into our lives. And such amazing transformations in that time-- of our lives and lifestyle, patterns and plans, and of course, of the little cuttie himself. The little man. Jazzy. Jabber, J-Man. Already showing big signs of growth: he is gaining about a pound per week, hair is coming in (very light color), eyes loosing that mysterious dark-dark color and moving into... well, we *think* it'll be blue, but who knows. If he does settle on blue, that'll 3/4 of us in the house are blue. Not me! Go figure :)

And since it's August, finally, some real bruchetta: local farmer's market tomatoes sprinkled with kosher salt, basil from our garden, nice evoo and bread from Clear Flour in Cambridge. The trick tonite was how to take care of a 4 week old kid at the same time. Mostly worked, but man! EVERY THING takes waaaaaaay longer than you think.

OK, gotta get the roasted chicken and veggies out of the oven, steam the corn, and plate it all with the Austrian Potato Salad from Cook's (potatos: local fingerlings + purple ones, and no mayo in the salad-- the dressing is based on some of the starch water + mustard + pickles, chives from the garden...)
